Discover The Benefits Available To You

When it comes to financing your care, it’s essential to explore all potential avenues for assistance. There are numerous benefits and allowances designed to support individuals in paying for their care needs. Depending on your unique circumstances and requirements, you or your loved one may be eligible for various financial aids.

Pension Credits

Pension Credits offer financial support to individuals aged 65 and over. This assistance comprises two main components: Guarantee Credit and Savings Credit. Additional funds might be available based on specific circumstances, such as living with a severe disability or caring for a child.

Guarantee Credit

This ensures a guaranteed minimum income level by topping up your weekly pension if it falls below a particular threshold. The amount can vary, especially if you have a disability.

Savings Credit

An extra payment for those who have made provisions for their retirement, such as savings, investments, or a second pension. The benefit amount varies depending on your living arrangements.

Attendance Allowance

Attendance Allowance is a tax-free benefit for individuals aged 65 or older who require assistance with personal care due to physical or mental disabilities. The benefit is paid at different rates depending on the level of care and support needed.

To qualify, you generally must be aged 65 or older and meet at least one of the following criteria:

You have a physical or sensory disability.

You have a mental disability, including learning difficulties.

Your disability is severe enough to require assistance with self-care or supervision.

You've needed regular additional help and support for at least six months.

Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

PIP has replaced Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and provides financial assistance for individuals with disabilities or long-term health conditions. To be eligible, you must be between the ages of 16 and 65, experience difficulties with daily living, mobility, or both, and expect these challenges to persist for at least nine months.

Carer’s Allowance

Carer’s Allowance is designed to support individuals who care for disabled persons, regardless of their relationship or living situation. Qualifying for Carer’s Allowance can also lead to National Insurance Credits and potential eligibility for other benefits.

To be eligible for Carer’s Allowance, you must:

Be aged 16 or over.

Spend at least 35 hours per week caring for someone.

Council Tax Reduction

Council Tax Reduction, which has replaced the Council Tax Benefit, provides discounts on your council tax bill based on your specific circumstances. Eligibility depends on factors such as your location, financial situation, dependents, benefits, savings, pension, and household circumstances.

Heating Benefits

During the winter months or periods of severe cold weather, various benefits are available to assist with heating and energy bills.

Winter Fuel Payment

Generally provided automatically to those of a certain age receiving a State Pension and another social security benefit. Eligible individuals may need to apply themselves.

Cold Weather Payment

Offered when the average temperature in your area is zero degrees Celsius or below for seven consecutive days between November and March.

Warm Home Discount Scheme

A one-off payment made directly to your energy provider, who then deducts the discount from your gas or electricity bill.
