To highlight and celebrate the work that care workers do, Professional Care Workers’ Week runs next week, between 16th & 20th of September and we’ve committed to joining in this annual celebration of the fantastic job that both care (and support workers) carry out via their vital role in the community!
As part of our annual programme of events we’ll be planning activities throughout the organisation each year, to support in highlighting the role that our staff play, and also as an opportunity to send a special ‘thankyou’ to them, for their commitment and ongoing hard work!
Our Choices Homecare service in Oldham have kicked off this years events with a coffee morning they held yesterday; we thought people might like to see some of their pics, everyone who attended said they’d had a lovely time and the coffee morning also made a massive difference to a service user who was invited to joined in, this was the first time he’d been out since covid hit and he was over the moon with being able to attend. The gentleman also had some fabulous stories to tell, of how he used to bake and make his own bread, he also had a wealth of knowledge about the Oldham area which he was telling everyone about throughout the session, and which they thoroughly enjoyed. Lynn (Registered Manager) spoke with the gentleman following the event and he told her how nice it was to be with people and not stuck at home, and was asking if he can come again – It goes without saying that the gentleman will be invited next time…
Thank you to all those who supported with baking cakes and preparation too (Alison Gaskil, Hanna Benson, Nicola Jackson, Carmel Davies, Jenny Roberts, Angela Bunner and Amy Joan Ball), a fabulous day was had by all and there was even an attendee from Oldham council, who came along and joined in this celebration of the fantastic role that care workers play in the community… Lynn and her team are now looking forward to arranging their next event…
Huge thanks to all staff for doing a great job and we look forward to publishing details about further events soon – thank you everyone!
